Trekking - Ea Cristina
Excursion overview
Fossil Canyon and the Upsala Viewpoint, is the proposal of Estancia Cristina for those who enjoy trekking.
The Chinook catamaran sets sail from the port in Punta Bandera towards the North Arm and the Cristina Channel. After about three hours of navigation, they disembark at the estancia.
The experience begins when the participants board 4×4 vehicles to start the ascent along a mountain road for about 9.5 km until they reach the Hielos Continentales refuge. From there it is a 20 minute hike over glacial erosion terrain, until reaching a privileged view of the Eastern front of the Upsala Glacier, Lake Guillermo, the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and the Andes Mountain Range. Then begins a 14 km trekking downhill through the Cañadón de los Fósiles, a valley of unique characteristics within the National Park, a site of marine fossils. The journey takes about 5 and a half hours, reaching a height difference of 550 m.a.s.l., and requires very good physical conditions.
